Adonis is his middle name. He does not like it.
Lucien is Italian and fluent in Italian. He studied linguistics when he was younger and can get by in other Latin-based languages.
He carries hard caramel candies in his pocket to eat when he feels anxious. He picked up this habit from Elias.
In his free time, he can usually be found training or bird watching. In the quieter hours of nights, he will be sketching in his notebook or reading a book.

History
Childhood
Lucien was born into the Amato family, a family of powerful and prestigious magicians. Unfortunately for Lucien, he seemed to be magically challenged and could not seem to pick up the family trade. When his younger sister, Lucia Anne Amato was born with incredible magical prowess, he quickly became the family disgrace.Lucien was fascinated with knights, protectors who triumphed with their strength and humility. He enrolled himself into the Knight's Academy when he was 14 where he quickly excelled in his studies and swordsmanship skills. His talent quickly caught the attention of his professors, notably, a renowned knight named Elias Delancey.His family on the other hand did not want to associate themselves with a knight, a magicless one at that, and disowned him on his 18th birthday when he made it apparent he would not be dropping out of the Academy. Representing a family name is a substantial part of a knight's honor and Lucien, now without one, quickly became the center of rumors. Elias was disheartened that Lucien's skills were second to gossip and decided to take him in as his own, giving him the surname Delancey.

History
Adulthood & Now
Lucien graduated top of his class and he was officially knighted as Sir. Lucien Adonis Delancey. He now proudly serves under his new family name and no longer associates himself with the Amatos.Lucien and joined Elias on the frontlines where they served some years together until Elias retired from battle. Elias returned to the Academy as Headmaster and asked Lucien to come back as a teacher which Lucien agreed to.Years later, Lucien's perseverance shined through and Elias recommended Lucien to become Knight Crux, the highest position for knights within the 12 Churches. Now, he finds himself acting as Liliavera's, the 12th Lady's, personal knight.

Trivia
As Sir Delancey can refer to both him and Elias, Lucien is sometimes referred to as Sir Adonis Delancey. In knighthood, this is because Elias has a higher seniority ranking than Lucien, so Lucien must adopt the "Sir Middle Name, Last Name" statute.

Lucien has a tall and strong build and stands at 6' foot 1 inch. He has platinum blond hair with gentle waves. His eyes are pale blue. He is almost always on-call so he typically wears his knight uniform, a white suit with gold embellishments.Off duty, he usually wears a comfortable white dress shirt and black pants.

Equipment
Holy Rapier: as a knight, he is equipped with a sword at all times. His holy rapier is blessed with holy magic, although he does not wield it. This was gifted to him by Vera when he officially pledged his marriage to her.
Dagger: a small dagger concealed on the inside of his suit jacket.
Handkerchief: a lily embroidered silk handkerchief gifted to him by Vera. While he finds the action endearing, he does not admit to it and claims he carries it around in case Vera were to spill something.
Magical Rosary: a rosary for prayer. Can also be used as a magical item if necessary.
Leather-bound Notebook: a small, leather-bound book he uses as a sketchbook and memo pad. It is filled with drawings of birds and scribbles.

At first, Lucien thought Vera was a bit childish due to her antics but eventually warms up to her over their years of partnership. He admires her compassionate, yet unwavering eye for justice.The two are bound by a Knight's Oath of Marriage, a ceremony where a knight proclaims complete loyalty to their liege.Lucien is quite fond of Vera.
Ren
Ren will frequently visit Vera and as a result, Lucien has frequently interacted with him. He does not have any strong feelings towards Ren but considers him bothersome at times. Next to Vera's personal knights (whom he hired himself), Ren is one of the few individuals Lucien is comfortable entrusting Vera's safety to.
Sir. Elias Delancey
Lucien strongly admires Sir. Elias Delancey and looks up to him as a father figure.

Knights of Tarin
Knights are important figures in Tarin. They make the up policeforce and also function as the military should Tarin ever go to war.Historically, knights usually served individual households, but now, most knights are in the public sector. Only some renowned families have their own knights (which must first be approved first by the government).Knights have a strict code of honor that they must live by. They are given the title "Sir." and are referred to by their last name (and sometimes their middle and last name if a last name is common) to show respect to them.

Knight Orion: A knight that specializes in swordsmanship.
Knight Equuleus: A knight that specializes in horseback riding.
Knight Errant: Often considered the lowest ranking of knights, these knights are sent as recruiters to convince young boys and girls to join knighthood.
Knight Crux: The personal knight of one of the 12 Ladies. There are only 12 Knight Crux, and they usually specialize in swordsmanship.There are a few knights who use magic although most magic-wielders tend to become magicians instead.

Knights' Lore (cont.)
Road to Knighthood
Knights undergo vigorous training that starts at a young age. Most knights are recruited at only 13 or 14 years of age. To become a qualified knight, they must enroll in an accreddited program. "The Knight's Academy" is one of the oldest and most prestigious in Tarin.Before picking up a sword, students must first study the Knight's Honor Code. After graduating from their program, they are considered a provisional knight. They are assigned to work under an official knight and must prove their worth before being considered a full-fledged knight. The process often takes 1-3 years and only when they receive both a recommendation from their school and a letter of completion from their commanding officer may they be eligible to be knighted.

A Knight's Oath
Knights who showed incredible loyalty to their leige could be bestowed the honor of "marriage." The Knight's Oath is not romantic but shows that a liege trusts their life in the hands of one specific knight. When taking the oath, a knight is bound to that liege until their passing; it is considered taboo for a knight who's taken an oath to abandon their liege.The oath ceremony requires the knight to give their liege their sword. They would then be given a new sword, often encrusted with a family crest as a symbol of welcoming of them to their family.Since most knights are in the public sector now, knight marriages are less frequent and usually done for aesthetic purposes within families that can afford to have them.
